Chelsea Holmes
Chelsea, a recent graduate of Alma high school, has been
an outstanding member of the Gratiot County YAC for four
years. During that time, she contributed to numerous YAC programs,
but most importantly fell in love with community service. Whether it
was mentoring an 8th grade girl or organizing a YAC Relay for Life
team, Chelsea is always at the forefront of service in her
community. In an essay on her YAC experience she says, "Because of
YAC, I know that I will participate in service and be a volunteer
for the rest of my life." It is this passion that guides Chelsea as
a leader for her YAC and community. Congratulations, Chelsea!

Elizabeth Stoiber
The Bedford Community Foundation YAC will be much different next
year without Elizabeth. After serving for 8
years, she is a veteran leader who has helped incoming YAC members
learn about philanthropy and is a youth
representative on the community foundation's Board of Trustees.
Recently, she volunteered more than 150 hours as a lead host for her
community's annual Relay for Life 24 Hour Walk. Her involvement
included logistical event planning, coordinating the dunk tank and
even clean-up crew. This work further demonstrates Elizabeth's
commitment to servant leadership. Congratulations, Elizabeth! |

Brent Dickinson
Brent, a four-year member of the Hillsdale County Community
Foundation YAC, takes his role very seriously, always striving to
use what he knows about his
community's economic challenges in grantmaking decisions. "He is
never afraid to question the merits and potential benefits and risks
of a particular grant request, and he frequently causes his peers to
consider grant requests more thoroughly, often from a different
point of view," says Brent's YAC advisor. Brent says that "giving
out grants has taught me how to keep a budget and how to use money
efficiently." He is most certainly an asset to his YAC and
community. Congratulations Brent!

Tyler Stafford Tyler
Stafford defines community as "neighbors interacting and people
helping one another, giving of themselves to better the whole
population." He's witnessed his
community's generosity as a member and current co-chair
of the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation YAC. A Grand Haven High
School senior, he already has an impressive
resume, serving on the Executive Committee and Healthy Youth/Health
Seniors Board. In addition, Tyler is National Honor Society
president, a Leadership Connect volunteer, Earth Day task force
planner and Ferry Elementary School classroom resource volunteer.
With such a full schedule Tyler stays focused and "has never missed
a meeting and emerged as a strong leader early on," according to his
YAC advisor. Congratulations Tyler!

Wally Abramson
In 2006, Wally needed to complete required community servic e
hours for school. He began attending the Saginaw Community
Foundation's FORCE meetings without completely
understanding FORCE's community role. His experience certainly
motivated him because two years later, his YAC
advisor says Wally now plays "a key role." He currently serves as
vice president and co-chair of the Service Committee. He also
volunteers for Habitat for Humanity, The Children's Zoo at
Celebration Square, The Public Libraries of Saginaw and the American
Cancer Society Relay for Life. Wally describes his YAC experience
as; "I have gained a position in which I can truly make a difference
in my community." Congratulations Wally!

Jennifer Yoder
"It is hard to imagine that a word I use so frequently today did
not even exist in my vocabulary only tw o
short years ago" says Jen Yoder, this month's YACer of the month
from the Hillsdale County Community Foundation.
As a high school senior, Jen is busy as the YAC president
as well as other community-wide initiatives, such
as; Take Action Hillsdale County program, a
multi-generational leadership program and
the Educational Leadership Initiative led by the Intermediate
School District to determine the future of public education in
the county. "She is someone that other YACers can feel
comfortable coming to with questions or opinions, and has
established herself as a true leader within the council and in
all of her other activities," says her proud advisor. "With
Jen's leadership skills and compassion this is probably just the
start." Congratulations, Jen!
