Orientations allow new YAC members to learn about the YAC so they feel comfortable working with the content and understand the function of the YAC. Orientations also allow returning YAC members to help new YAC members, while refreshing their memories on the different activities of YAC. The Michigan Community Foundations Youth Project Committee recognizes the importance of effective orientation training and encourages each YAC to hold an annual orientation for all new members and to encourage all members to participate in available training opportunities to help strengthen their skills in philanthropy.
